The role
We are looking to find a growing individual who is keen to demonstrate knowledge across corporate tax, transfer pricing and indirect tax to add value to the organisation immediately. In return we will offer a level of tax strategy ownership in a high-profile role within an expanding global business with a track record of extensive M&A activity.

As our Head of Tax, you will support our diverse and complex legal entities where you will provide best practice direct and indirect tax advice to all businesses. You will deliver accurate statutory reporting for UK consolidation and compliance purposes in addition to the Global tax strategy.

In this high-profile role, you will be responsible for managing the Global Tax Strategy including maintaining related transfer pricing documentation to meet central and local requirements. Maintaining good working relations with HM Revenues & Customs among other European tax authorities. Critically assessing the need to obtain external professional advice and to manage the delivery of this advice where necessary.

Implementing indirect tax controls to ensure accurate processing of VAT transactions and related reporting by the financial controllers.

Responsibilities include:
Taxation
  • Produce calculations for UK consolidated tax position
  • Accurate and punctual preparation of the UK tax computations for submission to HMRC
  • Definition of central Transfer Pricing strategy and preparation of related documentation
  • Provide advice on tax implications of employee benefits, PAYE issues and contribute to appraise potential methods of reducing both employer and employee tax liabilities
  • Manage external relationship with HM Revenue & Customs and other authorities as needed in relation to all direct and indirect tax issues
  • Critically asses the need for external professional tax advice to provide advice on complex tax issues and manage this relationship as needed
  • Maintain relationship with local financial controllers and outsourced tax support in country, ensuring adequate controls and reviews are in place to keep up to date with local compliance
  • Support with reducing the number of legal entities within the Group
  • Integrate new businesses or companies acquired by the group
  • Preparation of the tax disclosure notes for inclusion in the statutory accounts of all UK entities, implementing processes and systems as needed

Skills required:
  • Extensive exposure to a wide range of tax issues effecting UK headquartered international companies
  • Ability to communicate effectively across borders
  • Understanding of IFRS tax reporting
  • Detailed knowledge of transfer pricing requirements
  • Exposure to the preparation of UK statutory accounts
  • Detailed understanding of preparing UK Tax returns
Education & Training:
  • Professional qualification in Accountancy or Tax - preferably both
  • Exposure to management of a professional team of accountants and tax professionals
Work Experience:
  • Likely to have trained with a significant accountancy practice in the UK
  • Exposure to working with or within a global company
